ECOWAS Adopts Policy to Cut Aviation Taxes and Charges From January 2026

January 1, 2026, all member states of the Economic Community of West African
States (ECOWAS) will abolish aviation taxes and reduce passenger and security
charges by 25%. This decision, formalized by ECOWAS on Wednesday, December 10,
2025, aims to reduce the cost of air travel across the region.
