Uganda Breaks Ground on $72 Million Kidepo International Airport

President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni on Friday, June 5, 2026, presided over the
groundbreaking ceremony for the Kidepo International Airport in the
northeastern district of Karenga. Funded with over USD 72 million by the
Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry from the United Arab Emirates (UAE),
the facility will become Uganda’s third international airport after Entebbe and Kabalega.
