Nigeria Bets on Drones to Innovate Landing Aid Calibration

Nigeria is set to take a major step in modernizing its aviation sector. On Thursday, March 27, 2025, the federal government announced its plan to integrate drones for calibrating navigation equipment at its main airports. This initiative was unveiled by Chukwu Michael, Director of Safety at the Ministry of Aviation and Aerospace Development, during a workshop in Abuja organized by the Nigerian Airspace Management Agency (NAMA) in partnership with LiviaSoft and Colibrex. Titled "Advancements in Air Navigation and Safety," the event highlighted the technological progress promised by drone-based navigation aids, known as "NavAid" drones.
