South Sudan and Sudan Begin Airspace Delineation Talks

South Sudan and Sudan have officially opened discussions on the delineation of their shared airspace and the establishment of the Juba Flight Information Region (FIR), a development that brings Juba closer to exercising full sovereign control over its skies. The talks began today, November 19, 2025, in Nairobi, Kenya, marking one of the most consequential civil aviation negotiations for the region since South Sudan’s independence.
