Gabon To Launch Groundbreaking Carbon Compensation Plan for Air Transport

The Gabonese government, in a Council of Ministers meeting on Sunday, January 5, 2025, deliberated on a draft decree aimed at establishing a mechanism for controlling and compensating greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions for actors in the aviation sector operating or transiting through the national territory. This initiative, which also extends to the maritime sector, aligns with Gabon’s international commitments, particularly those related to the Paris Agreement, with a goal to achieve carbon neutrality by 2050 and beyond.
