East African Countries Push for Unified Aviation Legislation
From March 20 to 21, 2025, a legal workshop took place in Uganda, spearheaded by the Civil Aviation Safety and Security Oversight Agency (CASSOA) of the East African Community (EAC). Co-organized with the Institute of Air and Space Law (IASL) at Canada’s McGill University, African Civil Aviation Commission ( AFCAC) and the European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA), the event brought together experts and delegates from the EAC’s eight member states to lay the groundwork for a unified aviation legal framework in East Africa.
