Enugu Air, the nascent airline backed by Nigeria’s southeastern Enugu State, is edging closer to its operational debut. In Johannesburg, its two newly acquired Embraer E170 aircraft—now sporting the Nigerian carrier’s livery and registered as 5N-ENU and 5N-ENR—have emerged from South African hangars. Sources close to the project indicate the planes are slated to arrive at their home base, Akanu Ibiam International Airport in Enugu, within days. This milestone marks a pivotal moment for the startup as Governor Peter Mbah eyes a launch by early Q2 2025—provided the airline secures its Air Operator Certificate (AOC) in time.
