Kenyan Government Holds Firm Stance on Airspace Liberalization
The Kenyan government has adopted a firm
stance against fully liberalizing its airspace for foreign carriers. During the
launch of Nairobi to Mombasa flights by local airline Skyward Express on
Monday, April 1, Transport Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen (photo) emphasized the
need to safeguard the local industry. He cited concerns such as the lack of
reciprocity by other countries, preventing Kenya Airways from accessing some of
their local routes.
