Guinea Strengthens Aviation Security Through MANPADS Risk Mitigation Training

Over the past decade, the looting of thousands of MANPADS (Man-Portable Air Defense Systems)  from national stockpiles and their illicit proliferation in certain regions of the world have exacerbated the threat these weapons pose to both military and civil aviation. In this concerning context, Conakry's Ahmed Sékou Touré International Airport is strengthening its protective measures. From November 19 to 22, 2024, the Guinean Civil Aviation Authority (AGAC), in collaboration with France’s Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGAC), conducted specialized training focused on mitigating risks posed by MANPADS and other infantry weapons.
