Egypt to Privatize Management of Hurghada International Airport by End of 2025
Egypt is moving forward with plans to privatize the management and
operation of Hurghada International Airport (HRG) by the end of 2025, marking
the country’s first major step toward private sector involvement in its
aviation infrastructure. The announcement, made by the Egyptian Presidency on
June 28, 2025, is part of the government’s broader Asset Monetization Program
(AMP), which aims to boost operational efficiency, elevate service standards,
and support Egypt’s ambitious tourism objectives—all while retaining public
ownership of strategic assets.
