DRC Unveils Revamped Kisangani Bangboka Airport with China and AfDB’s Backing

The President of the Democratic Republic of Congo, Félix Antoine Tshisekedi Tshilombo, officially inaugurated the newly renovated infrastructure of Kisangani Bangboka International Airport in the country’s northeast on Saturday, October 26, 2024. This ceremony marked the conclusion of his four-day tour across Tshopo Province. The renovation, fully funded by the Congolese government with support from the African Development Bank (AfDB), included an overhaul of the runway and tarmac to enhance safety and operational capacity. The upgrades are also aimed at opening up this isolated region to greater connectivity, particularly internationally.
