South Africa tops Africa, Ranks 8th Worldwide in latest ICAO Safety Audit
South Africa has achieved a
preliminary score of 95.12% in an International Civil Aviation Organization
(ICAO) safety audit, ranking the country eighth globally and first in Africa
for aviation safety oversight. The result, announced on April 29, 2026, by the
South African Civil Aviation Authority (SACAA), marks an improvement from the
91.23% recorded in the country’s full-scope audit in 2023.
