ECOWAS Pushes Operationalization of Aviation Tax and Charge Cuts Across West Africa

The Economic
Community of West African States (ECOWAS) Commission has established an
economic oversight mechanism to force member states to reduce air transport
taxes and fees. According to an official statement from the regional
organization, the inaugural meeting of the ECOWAS Air Transport Economic
Oversight Committee (ECATEOC) took place from July 2 to 3, 2026, in Lomé, Togo.
