Nigeria’s Startup Kanem Air closes permanently, Sole jet dismantled
Incorporated on January 22, 2021, Nigerian startup Kanem Air aimed to connect Maiduguri, in Borno State, with major cities such as Lagos, Abuja, and Kano. Led by Alhaji Ali Gujja—a native of Borno and a well-known businessman in oil, gas, and construction—Kanem Air’s vision was to unlock northeast Nigeria’s connectivity and bring its people closer to the rest of the country. He was supported by co-directors Umar Lawan Sheriff, Maijir Mohammed, and Edeki Mojirade Mistura.
