Nigeria: AMCON Revives Plan to Merge Arik Air and Aero Contractors into Flag Carrrier
The Asset Management Corporation of Nigeria (AMCON), a governmental agency to acquire, manage, and dispose of distressed assets, is considering merging Arik Air and Aero Contractors to create a new national carrier. This proposal, viewed as the "best option" to rescue these ailing airlines from bankruptcy, was announced by AMCON’s Managing Director/CEO, Gbenga Alade, during a media briefing in Lagos on Monday, August 26, 2024.
