Nigeria Considers Canceling Abuja Airport Second Runway Contract Amid Alleged Fraudulent Cost Increase

The Nigerian government is considering terminating the N90 billion (57.661 million USD) contract for the construction of a second runway at Abuja’s Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport due to an alarming proposed cost variation of N532 billion (342.524 million USD). The Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, has described the proposed variation as “outright fraud.” As a result, the government may cancel the existing contract and initiate a new bidding process.
