On August 27, 2024, Major General Evariste Ndayishimiye, President of the Republic of Burundi, along with Mrs. Zhao JiangPing, the Chinese Ambassador to Burundi, officially launched the first phase of the Rehabilitation, Extension, and Modernization Project of Melchior Ndadaye International Airport.
