Burkina Faso, Mali, and Niger Take a Major Step Toward a Common Passport
Burkina Faso, Mali, and Niger have taken a decisive step toward regional integration with the adoption of a prototype for a unified passport and national identity card. Meeting on Friday, November 22, 2024, in Bamako, the security ministers of the three countries approved the harmonized technical specifications for these travel and identity documents, which will be issued under the framework of the Sahel States Confederation (AES), a newly formed bloc uniting these three West African neighbors.
