Renewed Hostilities in Libya: Airlines Suspend Flights to Tripoli

Violent clashes in Tripoli, Libya, have once again disrupted air travel, prompting airlines to cancel flights and evacuate aircraft from Mitiga International Airport (MJI/HLLM), the capital’s main aviation hub. The fighting broke out on May 12, 2025, in neighborhoods such as Ain Zara, Ras Hassan, and Bin Ashur, following years of relative calm.
