Kenya Airways’ Tightrope: Profit Hopes Clash with Breakdown Fears Before Peak Season

Kenya Airways, the national carrier of Kenya, is grappling with operational hurdles as reports emerge of grounded aircraft at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) due to engine and spare parts shortages. According to a report by Tuko.co.ke citing the airline’s CEO Allan Kilavuka, three Boeing 787 Dreamliner planes —registered as 5Y-KZH, 5Y-KZC, and 5Y-KZA—have been sidelined at JKIA, primarily due to a scarcity of engines and spare parts in the market.
