Free Route Airspace: Full Implementation on Track for West and Central Africa by End of 2025
Africa is taking a decisive step toward more efficient airspace management. Following over a year of pilot testing, the Free Route Airspace (FRA) concept is now poised for full operational rollout across West and Central Africa by the end of 2025. The announcement was made by Abderahmane Berthe, Secretary General of the African Airlines Association (AFRAA), during a press briefing held on the sidelines of the Aviation Stakeholders Convention in Kigali.
