Audit Ahead: Air Mauritius Seeks Answers to Financial Woes

Air Mauritius is set to take a hard look at its struggling finances. Chairman Kishore Beegoo, who stepped into the role on January 13, 2025, told the press on March 14, 2025, that he’s bringing in foreign experts to audit the airline’s books. “We need to understand why we’re in this mess,” he said, hoping to uncover the reasons behind years of losses. The financial statements for the year ending March 2024 show a grim picture: losses of Rs 15.5 billion (about 317 million euros) and a deficit in shareholder equity of Rs 9.5 billion (195 million euros), with "negative equity" nearing Rs 10 billion.
