FlySafair Faces Potential Shutdown Amid Ownership Compliance Dispute in South Africa

The Air Services Licensing Council (ASLC), South Africa's regulatory body overseeing domestic flight permits, issued a non-compliance ruling against FlySafair on January 6, 2025.According to local reports, the ASLC sent a letter to FlySafair citing violations of the nationality provisions under the Domestic Air Services Licensing Council Act. This ruling follows a warning last October from the International Air Services Council (IASC)—another regulatory body under the Ministry of Transport—threatening to suspend FlySafair's international flights.
