African Airlines: Profitability Projected for 2025, but at What Cost?

The African aviation sector is on track to achieve profitability by 2025, yet its margins will remain razor-thin. According to the International Air Transport Association (IATA), airlines across the continent are expected to post a collective profit of $200 million, doubling the $100 million forecast for 2024. However, this figure will still be the lowest among all global regions. The announcement was made on Tuesday, December 10, 2024, during the IATA Media Day in Geneva.
