2024 Insights: African Carriers Push Forward Amid Operational Obstacles

The African Airlines Association (AFRAA) has shared optimistic projections for the aviation sector in Africa, with passenger traffic expected to reach 98 million by the end of 2024. According to Abderahmane Berthe, Secretary General of AFRAA, this represents a 15% increase compared to 2023 (85 million passengers, 2% of global traffic), and slightly surpasses the pre-pandemic numbers of 2019, when African airlines transported 96 million passengers.He made this known during the recent AFRAA Annual General Assembly held in Cairo from November 17-19, 2024.
