Somalia Launches E-Visa System
Somalia’s Immigration and Citizenship Agency (ICA) unveiled its
much-anticipated Electronic Visa and Travel Authorization System (E-Visa/eTAS),
marking a historic shift in the country’s immigration policy. Effective since
September 1, 2025, all foreign travelers
must apply for an e-Visa online before entering Somalia, replacing the previous
visa-on-arrival system. This move, heralded as a “historic step” by ICA
Director General Mustafa Duhulow, aligns Somalia with global digital standards,
aiming to streamline travel, enhance border security, and boost economic growth
through tourism and investment.
