Burkina Faso Introduces Free Visa Policy for All African Nationals
On September 11, 2025, the Presidency of Burkina Faso announced a
groundbreaking policy to enhance visa openness for African nationals, marking a
significant step toward fostering Pan-African unity and facilitating the free
movement of people across the continent. During the weekly Council of Ministers
meeting, chaired by President Captain Ibrahim Traoré, the government adopted a
report introducing “free visas for citizens of all African
countries,” as part of a broader vision to strengthen
historical ties of fraternity among African peoples. This move, while not a
complete visa exemption, eliminates visa fees, making travel to Burkina Faso
more accessible for Africans.
